HISTORY! ~ Did you miss these events?
1st annual VBA Picnic ~ November 21, 1998
10 riders plus family enjoyed a day in Yorba Regional Park.  The riders rode the bike trail on a quiet out and back loop.  New member Teodoro Galelli surprised himself by covering the 28 miles distance easily, though he had not ridden in 20 years. Afterward, Ted treated us to stories of his exploits in Italy over bread and olives.  Gino and family rode a shorter loop and joined the rest at the picnic table. Jim & Susan rode the three speed Schwinn tandem which was lovingly restored just  for days like this!  Join us for a second helping this fall.
Why are these guys all looking at each others bikes?
Well... they're about to start our
January 24, 1998 "Coastal Cruise" ride. Cool, day, but cooler equipment, Scott G brought the Bates, Bill Paul showed the shiny old Olmo, Phil & Chuck rolled out serious bikes, and Matthew arrived in style on his fixed gear, which actually stayed together for the duration of the event.  A new guy even appeared on a fine '60's Bianchi. Steve Blieler worn a psychedelic jersey & performed a turning point tune-up.  Hugh's route was a breeze & after, we invaded his favorite beach cabana.  Good food, but service was kinda slow for hungry cyclists, until Phil greased the kitchen wheels for 'em.
Testing the theory that it's not always necessary to wear lycra or wool, Jim & Susan enjoy a VBA Balboa Park ride, with their 1949 Vianzone & 1971 Alex Singer.  If you've not explored Balboa Park recently, your missing a real treat. These rides may not fit your race training schedule, but they are a great opportunity to relax and exercise your mind amid beauty & culture.  Ride, then enjoy the parks many treasures!
