In 1974 Jim "JFC" Cunningham was painting bicycle frames for local riders and dealers.  This lead to a position as the painter at Masi USA in Carlsbad, CA.  There he met Master builder Mario Confente.  Jim worked with Mario in Custom Bicycles by Confente until Mario's death in 1979.  CyclArt continued, offering painting services to other builders, and refinishing services. Jim's wife Susan joined the company in 1979 and they continue their partnership there today.  Above, they work out paint schemes and decal designs for large OEM accounts.
Jim's 64CM frame size has spared him somewhat form the occupational hazard of acquiring too many cool bikes. He has just 15, including his 1971 Alex Singer.
Here's Susan "framed" by a Cinelli refinished to it's original Robin's egg blue color.

Ruth has worked at CyclArt since 1989, she has mastered all the techniques and materials to produce the world's finest frame painting.
