CyclArt Services Order Guide

A printable PDF version of this Order Guide is available by clicking Here . The best way to order is by printing and sending the Order Guide with your frame. Doing so insures you get exactly what you want, and will provide an estimate before shipping. We are available by phone at 760-599-1015 to discuss your ideas and help with getting them on paper. The best phone hours are M-F 11AM to 4PM PST.

For detailed estimates, especially those involving obscure decals that may need art creation or touch ups where we need to see the damage, it's best to send photo via email to Susan@cyclart.com of course we welcome you to visit our shop if you can. That way we can show samples, select from huge color books and give you a brief shop tour ~ The CyclArtists

The web based version of the order guide follows. It does not print as well as the PDF version, and we've omitted the blanks to write in, but it does contain additional links, explanations and tools. So please read through the Order Guide below and print the PDF version to mark and send with your frame.

Most of the first page of the Order Guide is to collect the basic information we need to contact you, to identify your order and understand your wishes.. The obvious stuff is ommitted here. There are a few items that may bear some explanation. Our explanations, not on the paper form, are in italics.

Rear Hub Spacing: []120 []126 []128 []130 ___mm
CyclArt checks every frame for proper alignment prior to painting. Also, we know that bikes are frequently updated at repaint time, and new rear hubs are often wider than old ones. So, we need to know the width of the hub you will use of your frame. We can change spacing if needed. It is important that the hub spacing be correct, not only to make wheel changes easier, but also to avoid holding the frame in tension, which can lead to fatigue cracks. The num,ber we are looking for is the "over locknut dimension", that is, the distance between the dropouts or from out side of the axle nut to axle nut where they touch the insides of the dropouts. Most compemporary road frames are 130mm. The 1960's and early 1970's 10 speeds were 120mm. Front forks ar ealmost always 100mm, but erhe are exceptions.

Parts sent and new parts requested. You can send us your frame or your complete bicycle. We can remove your old parts and rebuild or replace them. If you are sending most of a bike, please consider sending all of it, so we can road test it. When shipping, remove rear axle adjusting screws or turn them all the way into prevent their being bent in transit. Most bikes are sent with headsets and bottombrackets in place. Charges for servicing components, overhauls and wheelbuilding are detailed in the printed Order Guide.

We offer competitive prices on replacement parts, no sales tax out of state, & no cost parts shipping with refinish.

Main Color:

Color can be specified one of several ways: Our online color charts provide an convenient approximation of our favorite colors. You can send a color sample for us to match. The sample can be anything, a favorite jersey, photo, sex toy... we get some very interesting items as color samples!

For a better range of colors consider choosing from automotive paint charts... to do so, check your local yellow pages under "automobile body supplies" there you will find local auto paint sellers. There you can view thousands of color samples. While we can match any automotive paint code, the chart we like best is used by Akzo Sikkens and is called the "Color Map" it is two large books organized by color, not car type. Other good charts are "House of Kolor" "Dupont Imron" or "PPG". Be sure to give us the brand and complete color code.

We can also mix colors directly from auto paint codes, so you bike can be painted to match any car...

Of course, you can also ask us to match the frame's original color, just mark "match original" in the "main color" space.

The human eye is amazing in it's ability to distinguish differences in color value. Metallics, transparent layers and pearls add practically infinite variations. Precise matching is challenge that can take considerable time and material. So, we distinguish between an approximate match, and a precision match. Precision matches are close enough that we could paint part a frame or fork and there would be no discernible difference between the old and new paint.

Reduced pricing can apply for multiple 200 series services.
